Cat’s pee is the last thing you would want to smell from your memory foam mattress. It does not only stinks, it can also breed all sorts of bacteria that is detrimental to our health.
The first thing you need to do is to keep your memory foam mattress away from your pet cats. Your mattress cannot take more of the stains and aggravations. The next thing you need to do is to clean your mattress.
Here are some easier ways to help clean your mattress effortlessly:
1. Use Baking Soda
Baking Soda is an all-time favorite household cleaner. It can clean just about anything-from washing machines, to bathroom floors to counter tiles. This is why you have to stock up on baking soda.
Get rid of the excess cat pee first by dabbing clean towel on the area affected. Sprinkle baking soda on that part and give it a little rub to help the powder penetrate deeper. Leave it there for a few hours and vacuum it afterwards.
Another thing you can do is to mix baking soda with water and put it in a spray bottle. Spray the area affected and leave it on for a few minutes. Vacuum it again to reveal a pee-free mattress.
2. Use vinegar
Vinegar works well in getting rid of the stains and the smell of cat pee. Do not pour the vinegar directly. Mix about a cup of white vinegar with 4 cups of water and soak a clean towel in this solution. Let the towel sit on the area affected so the mattress can absorb the moisture from it. Wait for an hour so the solution can do its best on the mattress. Afterwards, spray some water to get rid of the vinegar smell. You can also sprinkle baking soda to neutralize the acidity of the vinegar. Prepare your hair dryer and use the cool settings to dry the mattress.
3. Woolite Solution
Woolite fabric cleaner can be bought in the store. If you are replenishing your home with supplies, don’t forget to pick Woolite solution because it works well on the materials of memory foam.
Just add one cup of Woolite fabric cleaner with two cups of warm water and put it in a spray bottle. Spray the area affected with this solution and leave it on for a few hours. Spray water again once it has dried up and vacuum it.
